Magically, life has been placed “on hold.”
I have the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world and live with a family for an entire year.
Where do I choose to go?
You might think, well she must know German (the official Language) or maybe her ancestors originated there. Maybe, she knows more about the place aside from its name. If you thought any of the above… well you would be wrong. As foolish as it may sound the reason I would travel to Salzburg is because the Sound of Music was filmed here. As a young girl I would dance around my childhood home singing about “My favorite things” and even as an almost 22 year old young woman – I’m still frequently caught singing the many wonderful tunes produced in this movie. To this day, hearing Edelweiss brings tears to my eyes and with Rolfe “staring” back at me, who wouldn’t want to still be “16 going on 17.”The Sound of Music holds many happy memories for me and although I am certain Salzburg is not what it was in the movie, I think it would be quite interesting to be immersed in a place I know so little about yet still have such an attachment to.
So what is there to actually do in Salzburg (you know aside from strolling through the streets singing about my favorite things)? Check out Trip Advisors Things to do in Salzburg, Austria to find out!
